Stopped at St. Marys, Ga. It's a small and quiet place on the coast, not far from Amelia Island. It hosts Kings Bay Naval Submarine base. Though I never heard of it before,

it was kind of hard to miss. This full size decommissioned sub rises from the ground just outside the main gate.

St. Marys also hosts a small museum right on the bay. While interesting, it could use a few more descriptive signs.

Sub controls, and periscope.

Not sure what this is, but the old guy in the corner gave me shivers.

Models and pictures of subs.

A sailor from days gone by.

Missiles used on today's subs.

Submarines preparing for WWII

VE Day!

Gaunt prisoners of war from numerous countries newly freed in Okinawa.

Shield of Honor, depicting Trident, Deep Sea Divers, Torpedoes, and Protecting the Globe. (Guessing that last one, no description)

And for all you doubters, a battle flag to prove narwhals do exist.

The Sirens call of the sea.
