Any which way the wind blows

Prevailing wind indicator in Emerald Isle, NC, designed by Mother Nature herself.

And what a lovely warm wind it is.

Sending kites and spirits soaring.

Long and Winding Road

I'm always drawn to this kind of place. Curiosity pulls me onward. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the sense of mystery, of discovering what lies ahead around the bend and through the next doorway, sure some wonderful adventure waits to draw me in, make me laugh.

Hopefully not a zombie hankering to eat my brain.

One Day in May

Our intention was to stop for a couple of pictures at a place of luck and fortune. We found a haven of glory and homage. Sometimes a serendipitous detour rewards with a day of delight.

A home of tradition and grace,

Where beauty parades,

Rose gardens honor warriors,

And knights ride into battle,

On the turf of bravery and courage.

And champions are wreathed in roses.

One day in May.

Dandy lions

After a cold, dreary, seemingly endless winter, even these are a pleasant sight.

Spring is finally here, at least for today. Yeah!

Dance to the Music

I stole this from another blog.

I secretly believe my books do this every night. Sort of like those fairy cobblers who fix shoes left on the doorstep overnight. What can I say. I'm a hopeless romantic.

Don't let the door hit you in the butt!

Winter has been awful and can't go away too soon for me. Don't like winter; never have, never will. Didn't expect to see spring for another couple of weeks. But on my morning walk, I spied these little lovelies on a south facing hill. Now I don't know about you, but they instantly brought a smile to my face.

And then to gild the lily, a little farther on, this bit of cheer smiled back at me.

I love spring.

Support Staff Speaks

Support staff is a very quiet person. Occasionally, I hold a mirror under his nose; relieved when fog appears. Asked a direct question, one can literally fall asleep before an answer arrives. However, when the answer does arrive, it is always thoughtful and generally kind. A quicker way to discern his thoughts is to read his blog.

I hadn't thought he noticed my struggle to get a novel I'm working on into proper order. Then I saw today's post. It is here:

A man of few words, but a laugh a day. And as usual, right on target.

Books as Sculpture?

Well, why not. Bookworms like me have all these piles of books everywhere, and we have trouble throwing them out. It's that old book burning thing I guess.

Tooling around the net I found a site showing what other more creative people than me do with their books. See it here.

This idea took my fancy. The books are stacked one on top of the other, you can see the backs of the books against the wall, their pages sculpted to make this amazing figure.

What kills me, is the little bum on the shadow on the wall.

Slip sliding away

News Headline:Did 'blood libel' hurt Palin for president?

I wonder if they mean on top of all the other silly things she says, or because this comment was one step too far, or only until she can "scrub" this comment clean, or???

Ch,ch,ch, changes.

I've come to something of a crossroad. Either I continue the path I'm on, or take another. As usual, there's good and bad to either choice. I've thought long and hard about this over the last few days. And today, I decided.

I think I'll just stay on my usual path.

It's confusing at times, but infinitely interesting.
